The structure of Common Energy UBC is an integral part of our success as an organization.

Each of the three sub-groups has one or two co-coordinators who will oversee the leadership and actions of their teams. The coordinators also work with the Directors and Assistant Directors on the Steering Committee.

Updated for the 2023-2024 year, our current subteams are : events, mugshare, and research. The teams’ specializations are as follows:

  • Events: Collaborating with other sustainability-focused clubs and initiatives on campus and in the greater Vancouver area to raise awareness and bring students together for activities that are both fun and environmentally friendly.
  • mugshare: Raising awareness about the mugshare campaign (born in Common Energy!) along with brainstorming what is next for reusable mugs/utensils (a reusable lunchbox perhaps?)
  • Research: TBD. In the past, our subteam has worked on researching stormwater management improvements/implementing a rain garden on campus; currently, we are working to establish partnership with a UBC professor/new research initiative.

We currently meet every Tuesdays 5:30 – 7 pm in BUCH 219 (all are welcome to drop by!) while individual subteam meetings may take place along the week as need be.
